Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 30 of 2009 concerning Electricity

With the grace of God Almighty President of the Republic of Indonesia,

Considering:

a. that national development aims to realize a failed and prosperous society that is equitable and spiritual based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia;

b. that electricity has a very important and strategic role in realizing national development goals, the effort to supply electricity is controlled by the state and its supply needs to be improved in line with the development of development so that electricity is available in sufficient, equitable, and quality;

c. that the supply of electricity is capital and technology intensive and in line with the principle of regional autonomy and democratization in the order of community life, nation and state, the role of local governments and communities in the supply of electricity needs to be increased;

d. that in addition to being beneficial, electricity can also be dangerous so that the supply and utilization must pay attention to the provisions of electricity safety;

e. that Law Number 15 of 1985 concerning Electricity is no longer in accordance with the demands of the development of the circumstances and changes in people's lives so that it needs to be replaced with a new law;

f. that based on the considerations as referred to in letter a, letter b, letter c, letter d, and letter e, it is necessary to form a law on electricity;

Bearing in mind: Article 5 paragraph (1), Article 18, Article 20, and Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia;

With the joint approval of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia and the President of the Republic of Indonesia

DECIDE:

To stipulate: Law on Electricity.
